US: Seattle Times and Seattle P-I change layouts
Posted by Lauren Drablier on October 15, 2008 at 8:40 AM
On October 13, The Seattle Times eliminated its stand-alone business section. Business coverage will now be inside the A section, except on Sundays when they will continue to run the separate business section.
According to their website, The Seattle P-I is also considering merging sections. In addition, plans have been announced by both papers to reduce their sizes by one-inch in width. Both recently increased their prices as well.
Although the both papers are suffering declining print readership,
their websites are growing and are among the top 30 nationwide.
P-I Managing Editor David McCumber responded to concerns about letting down customers stating that the newspaper will focus on areas where it can make the greatest impact for Seattle readers.
