The latest UKPulse survey by Metrica, which polled 13,000 people in the UK, shows that trust in the national press has grown over the past year, rising by 17% to 43% since the last survey. The regional press has seen its trust score rise by just 1% to 50%.
Interestingly, news sites achieve a better rating than their print counterparts, hitting 54%. The internet in general grew 4% to 34%.
Furthermore, Blogs do not fair well, achieving just 5%. Online forums are even less trustworthy, according to the survey, polling below 1%.
Claire O'Sullivan, Metrica's associate director, says: "While national broadcast media is traditionally credited with being the 'most trust-worthy' media type, an upward surge of 24% is exceptional. As is the 17% for national newspapers, despite the criticism they appear to consistently face."
