Switzerland: Free daily newspapers move ahead

20 Minuten, the Swiss free newspaper, is once again the most-read newspaper in Switzerlnd, according to the MACH Basic readership survey.

20min_swiss.jpg20 Minuten enjoys almost 1.3 million readers daily; it now reaches twice as many readers as the former most-read newspaper, Blick (a paid for daily). Four years ago both papers were neck-and-neck with approximately 750,000 readers.

Free daily Heute increased its readership to almost 300,000. Blick am Abend and the free dailies News and .CH. are not yet audited

Free daily business paper Cash rose in the six month period from 73,000 to 85,000 readers daily.

According to the survey, all paid for papers have lost readers since the 2007-2 survey.

In the French speaking part both free dailies 20 Minutes and Le Matin bleu increased their readership, while all paid papers (except Le Temps) lost readers.
