Rupert Murdoch owned News International, which publishes the Times, Sunday Times and the Sun, has just opened the world's biggest printing plant in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire, The plant only requires 200 people to run the 12 color printing presses that print 70,000 papers an hour in full color.
The new presses are quieter and faster than the Wapping Press in east London, which will now be defunct. It required 600 people to run it and printed 30,000 papers an hour.
BBC media correspondent Torin Douglas said the new presses "could give the newspaper industry a new lease of life in the digital media world."
