Journalists now cite financial problems as top concern

Journalists, who traditionally weren't too concerned by financial crises facing news organizations, are now pointing to financial and economic concerns as the most important problem facing journalism. Those concerns even eclipse worries about quality and credibility of their news coverage, as illustrated in the following chart.
62% of journalists at national media outlets say that journalism is going in the wrong direction, a huge increase from the 51% in 2004 according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press and the Project for Excellence in Journalism.
55% of journalists at national news organizations see a financial or economic concern as the most important problem facing journalism, up from just 30% in 2004
