London freesheets debut recycling effort

Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on January 21, 2008 at 10:58 AM
London’s free newspapers started to roll out their recycling bins across the capital, as part of their deal to pay for the installation of 70 newspaper recycling bins across the West End.

The three parties, including News International, Associated Newspapers as well as the Westminster City Council, will be in charge of recycling the expected 400 tons of free newspapers dumped annually.

Westminster Council had threatened to restrict distribution of the papers if the parties hadn’t complied with the recycling deal.
