In contrast to the decline of circulation among U.K.’s daily titles, The Financial Times (FT) has increased its circulation by 2.13 percent year-on-year in September.
According to U.K.’s Audit Bureau of Circulation, the FT’s circulation increased from 432,036 copies in September of last year to 441,219 copies in September.
The FT was the only “quality” daily, as defined by the Audit Bureau, to increase circulation in U.K. The circulation U.K.’s best selling “quality” daily, The Daily Telegraph, declined 1.21 percent to 890,973 copies. News Corp.’s Times fell 4.22 percent to 654,482 copies.
Circulation of other dailies declined, including Trinity Mirror Plc’s flagship Daily Mirror, falling 3 percent to 1,584,742 copies. News Corp.’s The Sun fell 0.1 percent to 213,756. In efforts to reverse this trend, the Sun’s cover price was reduced from 35 pence to 20 pence at the beginning of September in London.
