US: Star Tribune to deliver sections to specific areas
The weekly inserts will be replaced by “zoned sections in the daily paper,” reported the Associated Press (through Editor & Publisher). This means that some sections will be distributed to readers in specific areas (this gives advertisers a more focused reach).
This change falls in line with the Tribune’s reporters’ new orientation, as they have been reassigned away from some beats, such as architecture, toward more suburban coverage.
Until now, the weekly inserts were written by outside reporters, who were paid at a lower rate than regular staff.
Most of these reporters will now integrate the daily newspaper team.
