October conferences: World Digital Publishing and World Editor and Marketeer

The World Association of Newspapers is organizing two major events in October for the whole of the press industry. The World Digital Publishing Conference & Expo, to be held on Oct. 17-18, and the World Editor and Marketeer Conference & Expo, to be held on Oct. 18-19, will take place consecutively in Amsterdam.

 
Birger Magnus, the Deputy CEO of Schibsted, the Norway-based newspaper company that is approaching 50 percent profitability from its digital operations, will be the keynote speaker at the World Digital Publishing Conference & Expo.

Other speakers will include Leon Levitt, President of Cox Interactive and Steve Seraita, Vice President of Scarborough Research, who will present measurement initiatives that will aid newspapers in selling advertising in combined print and online packages.

The World Editor and Marketeer Conference & Expo will examine the new role of the printed newspaper in the multi-media environment and will showcase the best in print and multi-media developments.

Speakers will include Linda Sease, Marketing Director for Scripps Newspapers in the USA, and Maureen Duffy, CEO of the Newspaper Marketing Association in the United Kingdom, who will talk about research helping newspapers, as well as Jan ’t’ Hart, Deputy Editor in Chief of de Volkskrant in The Netherlands, who will examine trends in newsroom design and the impact on content and costs.
