France: TF1 launches free urban mag
PiliPili – a strand of hot pepper – is first launched in Rennes and Grenoble, with 100,000 copies to be distributed in each.
The free urban magazine will target the 18-38 demographic. Its business model will be very particular, as national advertising will only amount to about 15% of total revenue in its first year. Most of its revenues will be generated through the publication of classifieds for local companies. On the editorial side, these ads will be complemented by mini-reports, as well as consumer-enticing offers.
PiliPili is published by Top Tickets, jointly owned by TF1 and holding group Artemis (both own 45%) and the Japanese classifieds leader Recruit. TF1 also has a 34% stake in Metro France.
Another 20 to 25 regional editions and an online edition should be launched by the end of 2008, with a Parisian edition scheduled for 2009.

Where is Howard Goodman. His column was one of the bright spots in the dreary Sun Sentinel. Appears he is "out to pasture" right?
Taking care of the Sentinel's blogs... you can still read his 'bright spot' writing.
Dear Howard Goodman, I received a letter from FEMA regarding a court case the Sun won in June to allow you the names and addresses of all who received money from the NFIP in 2004. We received just under $2000. We have paid for NFI since we bought our condo in 1986. This was the only time we needed help and the only time we filed for it. If your newspaper is to do anything with their court results, it might be to see who the people are or how many people did not pay for National Flood Insurance, but got money from them anyway. ALSO you might look into the huge amount of money that went to Dade County from FEMA, when Dade County was not even hit by the hurricanes in 2004. Thank you
