Portugal: new freesheet launch to tip the scale

Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on August 6, 2007 at 1:50 PM
After the planned launch in September of a new freesheet, Global Noticias, there will be more free papers than paid-for dailies in Portugal.

Global Noticias will have a circulation of 150,000 copies and be published by Controlinveste.

The paper will first be distributed in Lisbon, both in public areas and by home delivery.

This will be the sixth free daily in Portugal, where total free circulation is currently more than 550,000 copies. Paid-for circulation was about 620,000 in 2006, so there should be more freesheets than paid-for papers starting in September.
