UK: Independent titles to go full-color

Posted by Mica Swyers on July 25, 2007 at 11:57 AM
Trinity Mirror, publisher of The Independent, announced on July 25 that it will invest £23 million in color-printing equipment for its papers.

The change will mean facility upgrades at presses in Oldham and Watford to produce the full-color publications.

Many publications in the UK have been embracing pricier, full-color printing in hopes to increase revenues through higher rates for color advertising.

The note above may be a little confusing. Just to clarify: The London-based Independent is published by Independent News & Media Plc, which contracts the paper's printing out to Trinity Mirror's presses based in Oldham and Watford.
