UK: does compact improve sales?

The Northern Echo claims that its decline in sales has come to a halt since it went tabloid in February.
“The switch from broadsheet to compact was not an easy decision because The Northern Echo has such a rich heritage and loyal following, but the figures for the first half of the year show beyond any doubt that it was the right decision to make,” said editor Peter Barron.
Prior to its reduction in format, sales of the Northern Echo were sliding at a rate of 6.9% year-on-year. As opposed to a 0.3% decline year-on-year now.
