Murdoch’s News Corp $5bn surprise bid rejected by Dow Jones

Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation made a $5bn bid for Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal on May 1st. Dow Jones shares rose 58% after the announcement, from $37 to 57$, but the Bancroft family, which owns 62% of the company's voting stock, rejected the bid.
News Corp reportedly bid for $60 a share.

The Wall Street Journal is the world’s leading financial newspaper, with a daily circulation of over two million copies.
