Bancroft talks to take place today
Today members of the Bancroft family will sit down to discuss the proposal made by Rupert Murdoch of News Corp. to buy a controlling share of Dow Jones & Co. It appears that some of the Bancroft family is adamantly opposed to the idea and others are open to discussion.
William Cox Jr., a member of the Bancroft family, is quite opposed to the deal: “If you give it to Rupert Murdoch, it’ll be ruined,” adding, “It’s been in the family for a long time. I want to see it stay in the family.”
On the other hand, some of the descendents of Jessie Bancroft Cox are inclined to “weigh their options.”
For now those out of the Bancroft circle will simply have to wait and see what comes of their meeting, Rupert Murdoch included.
