The Netherlands: De Pers to follow home delivery model

Posted by Lindsay Berrigan on April 18, 2007 at 3:54 PM
Beginning next month, Dutch free daily De Pers will distribute 200,000 additional copies door-to-door in 45 selected neighborhoods.

The move will increase circulation to 700,000. De Pers is currently testing the home distribution plan once a week. This move could give De Pers, a newcomer to the Netherlands freesheet war, an advantage over the established Metro, Sp!tz and Barneveld Vandaag. De Pers also contains longer, in-depth, more original stories and has more editorial staff than the other freesheets. This quality combined with home delivery could make De Pers serious competition for paid dailies.
