Posted by Lindsay Berrigan on April 2, 2007 at 10:22 AM
The latest Italian daily readership survey, done by Audipress, included for the first time three freesheets, all of which surpassed the necessary daily readership of 750,000.

Leggo, the largest daily, reached over two million readers, while City and Metro had around 1.6 million each. Overall, Italy’s daily newspaper market reached 22.5 million readers in 2006.

Though its readership fell 1.9%, sports daily La Gazetta dello Sport remained the top read paper with 3.6 million readers. La Repubblica came next with 3 million, up 0.4%, followed by Corriere della Sera with 2.5 million, down 4.6%.

No, this is all wrong.

Axel-Springer is NOT opening the first tabloid in Second Life.

The Second Life Herald (http://www.secondlifeherald.com) is the first tabloid of Second Life. This online newspaper covering inworld news and views has operated in SL for more than 3 years and is proud to be called a tabloid : )

Catch up on the real new of what's first and what's next in SL, and don't believe all these fake wannabe 'firsts'.

Hello Editors Weblog - before posting this type of announcement, please check your facts. Announcements of this type are arrogant attempts to grab press space, when this is no first- not even a second or third. Please retract and correct this article that the Secondlife Herald is the first tabloid in Second Life.

Yes, please check your facts prior to making false claims. The facts do not support your "first" claim.

"Though this is the first tabloid, Second Life is no stranger to Journalists. There is currently one freelance journalist wandering about named Wagner James Au and in October Reuters online news agency sent a reporter into the Second Life universe to report on business events within the site."

The other comments are dead on. The SL Herald was the first gossip rag in Second Life. Also there are other freelance journalists wandering about it SL; they submit their articles to the The Metaverse Messenger (www.metaversemessenger.com) -- the first real newspaper for SL about SL.
