US: NYT changes time of Page 1 meeting
Posted by Lindsay Berrigan on March 15, 2007 at 1:38 PM
According to New York Times executive editor Bill Keller, on Monday, March 19, the Times, in an effort to move non-breaking stories to their website earlier, will move up the first Page 1 meeting.
It will move to 10:30am from 4:00pm.
In the morning, department heads will meet to discuss anticipated breaking news. Stories can then be placed on the Times website earlier in the day. Keller says that those working on the print version will use this earlier meeting to decide front-page news unless breaking news comes later in the day.
Keller expects that the IHT will move its Page 1 meeting to follow that of the Times.
