Media group Prisa, owner of the daily El Pais, announced that its net profit soared by 50% in 2006. Full-year profits rose €228.9 million, thanks to an 89.6% in total revenues. That’s one newspaper group that’s doing well, thanks to its media diversification.

Prisa also owns stakes in radio and publishing in Spain and Latin America, as well as in pay-television company Sogecable. It also has a stake in France’s main daily, Le Monde.
