US: New Capital Hill media prepares for arrival
Posted by Allie Judson on December 13, 2006 at 1:19 PM
The new Capital Hill news site and newspaper, the Politico, plans to begin its coverage with the Presidential State of the Union Address Jan. 23. Following the address, Politico plans to turn its attention towards the 2008 presidential campaign.
The site and newspaper, Backed by Allbritton Communications and headed by John Harris, former political editor of The Washington Post, and Jim VandeHei, former national political reporter for The Post, is currently gathering both well-known and new journalists to fill its staff.
Harris and VandeHei hope to set their reporting apart from the already crowed political market by writing in a conversational tone, posting videos, telling the readers inside stories, and making appearances on CBS news.
