US: free daily launched in San Francisco
A new free daily, the San Francisco Daily News has been launched with an initial circulation of 5,000 copies. The paper, a project born from James Pavelich, owner of the Denver Daily News, Dave Price and Amando Emendoza, focuses on community news. Pavelich and Price previously owned the Palo Alto Daily News, the Burlingame Daily News, the Los Gatos Daily News, the Redwood City Daily News and the San Mateo Daily News. With a lot of experience in Bay Area news, this new daily may prove successful, although it will have to compete with other free dailies in the city like Metro.
