Murdoch to launch freesheet in London?

BrandRepublic reports that Rupert Murdoch's News International could launch a free commuter paper in London before an agreement with the city is reached for the Underground contract. The last such deal saw Associated Newspapers come out victorious and its free paper Metro has well over 1 million daily readers. An early entrance by Murdoch would spark huge competition between the two large publishers. The move also shows that traditional publishers and advertisers' confidence in the effectiveness of freesheets is strong.
