US: Washington Post to allow purchase and licensing of online photo content
The Washington Post Online’s photographic content is now available for viewing, purchasing and licensing at its online photo store. Teaming up with California company Pictopia.com, all Washington Post images are made available for purchase for professional and amateur use. Advanced search tools make it easy to navigate and readers can store their favorite images.
"We needed to find a more automated solution for those interested in commercial use of The Post's photos, and for servicing readers who want to purchase our images for personal use. This new system provides an easy-to-use interface that addresses the customers' needs," said Alan Shearer, editorial director of The Washington Post Writers Group.
With this new project and the Washington Post’s site mashingtonpost.com (see previous posting) it is becoming clear that the Washington Post “gets it.”
