UK: new "reverse publishing" weekly to be launched

Posted by Dominique Lewis Tuohy on March 7, 2006 at 5:03 PM

A new weekly publication is to be launched in Cheltenham on 20 April in the "reverse publishing" mould. Essentially this means the paper's website will be more in depth than its print edition: "The paper will include the most up-to-date content from the website, updated hourly, but the website will be much more in-depth, with analysis, links and comment."

The new paper will be called Compact, a reflection of its A4 size. It will also share news content and advertising with Star FM, of Cheltenham and Stroud.

Justin Mafham, the man behind the paper, stated "Our motto is in print, online and on air." There are plans to launch Compact in other nearby towns once the paper is 'up and running' in Cheltenham. Initially, the paper will be delivered to 30, 000 homes in Cheltenham.
