India: media and entertainment industry to grow 19% annually

Posted by Dominique Lewis Tuohy on March 14, 2006 at 11:19 AM

The Times of India reports that the media and entertainment industry "is poised to grow at an annual compounding rate of 19% per annum." This growth is being driven by rising incomes, along with 'consumerism' and 'technological advances', and will effect "print media, television, radio, film and entertainment." Print media specifically is projected to an annual growth rate of 12%; its growth is helped along by an increase in literacy amongst Indians and thus an increase in the number of people reading newspapers and magazines. A definite interest in investing in India has been observed amongst foreign media.
