UK: New free Asian paper launched in London

Page 2 Page, a new free weekly paper targeting the British Asian community, has been launched in London. The aim of the new paper is to offer ‘quality’ news and analysis to an ‘upmarket’ audience, “the young, upwardly mobile and professional.”

Managing editor Shashi Singh feels the new paper will fit a niche in the UK press market by offering something different to British Asian readers.

Singh said the following about Page 2 Page: "We fill the vacuum that both Asian and mainstream media have created … The English mainstream press often overlooks the increasing diversity in our communities while the ethnic media is increasingly mired in its own editorial parochialism.”

Distribution of the new paper is currently centred on London, but management has indicated that they plan to move nationwide and then international next year.
