Valued at euro 70m, the free daily 20 Minutos gave over 20% of its business to Grupo Zeta for euro 15m, in an attempt by the media group to revive its newspaper division. 20 Minutos holds the biggest share of Spain's free paper market with over 2 million daily readers and has surpassed El Pais as Madrid's most read paper.

Sad to see WWN go. I knew Eddie Clontz, the founding editor, well. Worked with him at his former daily newspaper. Worked with him one summer, filling in for WWN staffers on vacation. Some of the best writing fun I ever had. WWN had a niche, especially under Clontz. The question now remains is whom will Bat Boy, The Wolf Man, Elvis2007 and all the other WWN creatures turn now? Hopefully, there will remain an online version.
