Survey: News executives report that within 3 years 40% of content will be user generated

A survey by Polopoly reports that European newspaper executives believe that within three years 40% of their content will be user-generated. The survey reported that blogs will become more important, personalized advertising will be more possible, and the Internet will continue to grow in importance.

A new Accenture survey reveals that 57% of media executives see user-generated content as a challenge, however, a Hitwise survey showed that, judging by the still-low percentages of users creating content, traditional media should be able to catch up.

Visual forms organize information and explain complex concepts, whether via maps, charts, diagrams or illustrations.  They simplify the message.  They clarify the news.  Can a comic book timeline do the same?  Can an automated database or three-dimensional illustration?  Innovators in media think so.
