Live Earth peaks online traffic

According to Microsoft’s Web portal, MSN, The Live Earth concerts broke records in traffic, with more than 9 million Internet streams. Live Earth is a success story, both for organizers, the public, and news outlets linking to the event.
"We have exceeded any other online entertainment event," MSN product manager Karin Muskopf. "It's really exciting to see the enthusiasm for the concert."
More than exciting though, the post-concert success of Live Earth is representative of the surge in online video streams.
Live Earth’s predecessor, Live 8, was streamed more than 100 million times in the six weeks after the shows. Organizers expect Live Earth to generate as much as three times more streams.
A straightforward tip for newspapers seeking traffic: link back to the stream.
