EveryBlock is the name of Adrian Holovaty’s hyperlocal information aggrgation and distribution system proposal, which won him $1.1 million of grant money from the Knight Foundation’s News Challenge. This site will bring together several databases of information and will “allow citizens of a large city to learn (and act on) civic information,” Holovaty said.

"The concept of aggregating local information is not new, but I think our particular implementation will be, because we're focusing on a wide variety of information that doesn't tend to be available in a one-stop-shop format," added Holovaty.

Although it is not clear exactly what will be included in this site, public records databases will likely be among the content. As for the immediate future, Holovaty will be recruiting some developers and figuring out the system.

Of the site Holovaty says: "It's too early to tell what the main focus will be. We'll be throwing around lots of things and seeing what sticks on the proverbial wall."
