A year after the redesign of some of France’s main newspapers, Le Monde, Figaro and l’Humanité, La Tribune (and La Croix) launches its own redesigned formula. This seems to be one of newspapers' most widespread answers to fight against their losses, but the new formulas rarely suffice to themselves.

UK: The Times offers downloadable business supplement

News International's The Times has launched an afternoon online business supplement in PDF format. The downloadable document dubbed The Note will go live at 5pm every weekday and will "provide the latest news, insider analysis and agenda-setting comment on the day’s biggest business stories." Canada: print the evening news from your computer

Torstar, publisher of the Toronto Star, will soon begin publishing an 8-page electronic evening afternoon edition that readers can download, print out, and take home with them. The paper will be available daily at 3:30 p.m. and include breaking news, puzzles, features and entertainment.

UK: Guardian to offer printable news updates

British commuters wanting afternoon news updates in print to read on their way home from work will soon be able to take advantage of a free service offered by the Guardian.

The service, G24, will allow Guardian Unlimited Web site users to download and print an eight to 12-page PDF document. Users will have the choice of five news contentcategories, each updated every 15 minutes: general news, international, economics, sport and media.
