Yahoo has agreed to settle on the lawsuit brought against them by the World Organization for Human Rights USA on behalf several Chinese dissidents. The case claimed that Yahoo gave information to the Chinese government that was used to arrest the dissidents.
Press freedom is still severely restrained in Egypt and in many Middle Eastern countries in general, but the blog generation may seriously affect the State-censored press landscape.
The numbers are staggering -- more than 500 journalists were arrested last year, simply for doing their jobs. Even more extraordinary are the personal stories of endurance, pain and determination of the men and women arrested and imprisoned.
Online journalist Ahmed Mahmoud Abdallah, currently editor of the news site Balady Net and formerly editor of the now extinct opposition newspaper Al-Shaab, has been arrested by Egyptian state security agents. His work has been confiscated and his website closed down.
