Spain: PRISA to offer bundled Kindle subscription of El País and 2 other papers
Posted by Liz Webber on July 22, 2009 at 4:35 PM
El País does not report an official launch date or price for the e-editions, which will become available to American Kindle owners "in the coming months." Currently, Amazon only sells its Kindle device in the United States.
To stay on top of the digital curve, El País also offers a version for iPhones. The paper integrated its newsroom in March so that all journalists work to produce content for the print, online and mobile editions.
While El País will be the first national Spanish newspaper to produce a Kindle edition, it follows the Valencia-based online publication Diariocritica. Understandably, the vast majority of the 40-odd newspapers in the Kindle store are American, or at least English-language. Other non-English publications include France's Les Echos and Le Monde and Italy's Corriere Della Sera.
