Agences Online created by French photo agencies
Posted by Helena Deards on February 11, 2009 at 11:50 AM
Faced with competition on both sides from American industry giants and amateur photographers distributing un-guaranteed work at tiny prices all over the Internet, nine French photo agencies took the decision to create an online portal where they could sell all their work. The original nine were joined by another seven shortly afterwards, and there are already over three million photos available on www.agencesonline.fr.
The portal is trying to distinguish itself by providing a superior content and simplifying the work of anybody searching for the perfect image to use in their publication. Sorted into relevant catergories, the site aims to be quick and easy to use. Providing a content above what is readily available is a necessary move in an industry threatened by the wealth of free citizen photojournalism accessible on the net.
