US: USA Today launches iPhone application
Posted by Lauren Drablier on January 5, 2009 at 10:28 AM
USA Today announced in December the launch of its iPhone application. The application, which is free to to download, allows users to browse and read stories from all of the paper's print sections, Editor & Publisher reports.
Articles can be shared via email, text message or Twitter. The application will also provide up-to-date sports scores.
According to Matt Jones, director of Mobile Strategy and Operations, "the USA Today application for iPhone and iPod touch is a great addition to our impressive suite of mobile products. The incredible capabilities of these devices are a natural fit for USA TODAY's rich mobile-ready content and mobile audience."
The move highlights how newspapers are aiming to attract more readers through new technologies as the cost of print rises and more papers are struggling to find advertising revenue.
