US: Topix launches four new partnerships

Topix has announced plans to partner with four other companies including lat49, ServiceMagic, Marchex and Mapquest. According to Topix, they are "the largest news community on the web."
Lat49 is an online adverstising network that delivers targeted display ads depending on a users location. ServiceMagic is a home improvement service provider and Marchex is a company that provides local business listings, similar to the yellow pages.

Topix will partner with Mapquest as well in order to provide local news and sports headlines for them.
Topix is part of a new content model that combines traditional news and feature articles with user-generated-content.
