"Relentless" media coverage of the terror attacks in Mumbai has sparked a strong backlash from the public, according to Global Voices, who has been following the story.
The mainstream media's approach of "shock and shake" can lead to unverified rumors being reported as fact, Global Voices reports, and the blogosphere has monitored the coverage with a mounting anger.

One blogger Kalyan Varma writes that NDTV reporter Barkha Dutt is "causing more damage to the country by FUD than the terrorists themselves."
The way in which the media can "amplify the general hysteria and panic" after an event like this is noted by Falstaff, and the possibility of intensive minute-by-minute reporting "helping the attackers" who need only turn on the television to find out the latest details.
The general onslaught of news after a serious event comes from every angle--from mainstream news to social media sites, like Twitter, to Youtube, saturating the market. If mainstream media takes on social media in addition to its regular reporting without verifying fact from fiction, there will continue to be outrage over media coverage.

Looking at the kind of media coverage surrounding this unfortunate terror attack on Mumbai, I get a feeling that Indian media is really irresponsible...they been showing visuals of each and every activity happening outside and in a way they are helping terrorists inside...why is there so much of urgency to media to show each details, and god's sake not at this time at least..
they showed Hemant Karkare and other officers wearing helmet, chest protection and entering the hotel in a way helping terrorists inside to know there position and expose the protection...
we saw commando's being dropped from helicopter on top of Nariman house...and interestingly the spokesperson was saying that police had requested them not to show visuals from Nariman house...and they still aired it saying these are delayed visuals.
They also mentioned on air that there were 16 commando dropped...for god's sake please stop these...
we as Indians of course would like to see live broadcasts but not at a danger of commandos who are fighting for us....
MEDIA, PLZ PLZ stop showing live videos...you are helping these terrorists...
You can show all this after the operation is over...
