US Reuters expands mobile journalism to political conventions

Reuters announces that it is spreading out its mobile journalism to include coverage of the US political conventions, so that the event is captured from "the ground up" and through "unique perspectives" reports Journalism.co.uk.
Reuters "Mojos" used Nokia mobile kits for reporting the Beijing
Olympics this year, but the unavailability of WiFi and 3G connections
at the convention centers has restricted their usage. Instead
journalists are provided with Sanyo HD video cameras and Flip Mino cameras for covering the event.
Video footage will be shot by contributors like Craig Newmark, Craigslist creator, and presidential campaign volunteers and editing would be kept to "an absolute minimum", according to Adam Pasick, Reuters.com's US editor. The video clips would be diffused through YouTube and Off The Bus, The Huffington Post's citizen journalism section.
