Google Inc. announced that it launched an upgraded version of the Google Search Appliance, a self-contained Google-style online search system that stores up to 10 million electronic files in a single box, whose clients include companies and state organizations.
The search functions are run by Google software whereas the storage is powered by Dell Inc. hardware. The updated system has more encryption capabilities and lets users be notified when new data is uploaded to the network by using Google Alerts.
The Google Search Appliance functions in 27 languages and will now have Turkish, Czech, Portuguese and Vietnamese. Search results, meanwhile, are delivered in 40 languages.
