Citigroup analysts predicted that Amazon's Kindle e-reader sales are expected to grow to 380,000 this year, reported The Register today.
Analyst Mark Mahaney compared Kindle sales to those of the iPod
in its first year on the market. It is "impressive" since the Kindle
may only be sold in the US as it needs the CDMA (Code Division Multiple
Access) network to operate its whispernet connection, reported The
Register today. According to Mahoney, Kindle will account US$1 billion
each year to booksellers, which is 4% of the total revenue.
Kindle editions are already offered by newspapers like the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times in the US as well as Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine, China's Shanghai Daily and France's Le Monde.
