US: Universal Press Syndicate and Deviant Films strike comic deal
Posted by Alisa Zykova on July 2, 2008 at 3:05 PM
The Universal Press Syndicate announced last Tuesday that it would team up with Los Angeles' Deviant Films to provide daily animated comics to newspaper sites in a deal that could help the sites appeal to a younger audience, Editor and Publisher reported.
According to John Glynn, Universal Director of Content and Acquisitions, archiving the comics may also help boost traffic to the news sites.
"Newspapers have been asking for more dynamic content for their Web sites, and we felt like this is the natural evolution for our comic properties," said Glynn.
The animations will include Universal strips and panels such as "The Flying McCoys" by Gary and Glenn McCoy and "Lio" by Mark Tatulli.
