UK: The Sun launches redesigned site
Posted by Alisa Zykova on July 18, 2008 at 3:11 PM
The UK's premier newspaper The Sun relaunched its site, adding numerous features like a downloadable RSS widget called Desktop Keeley that distributes content directly to computers.

The revamp includes a lengthier format and a new right-hand panel that showcases breaking news and popular issues.
Desktop Keeley diffuses videos of the paper's model Keeley Hazell, where she announces story updates and writes on the desktop.
The Sun's development team and Glue, a marketing agency created the widget, using Adobe Air technology that builds desktop applications that can run with different operating systems.
The new version of the homepage took six weeks to develop and is the paper's seventh in nearly a decade. In May, the Sun's site was the fourth most visited in the UK, after Mail Online, Telegraph.co.uk, Guardian.co.uk and Times Online.
