New software detects doctored photographs

With the recent stir caused by Iran's doctored "fourth" missile photograph, journalists should be hyperaware that no longer is seeing believing.

New software, developed by Dartmouth College computer science professor Hany Farid, analyzes photographs for duplicated pixel patterns, differing light sources within a photograph, and "mirror" reflections in eyes that betray doctoring.
