US: Ann Telnaes ending print syndication to focus on animation
Posted by Sarah Schewe on June 3, 2008 at 9:08 AM
Ann Telnaes will end print circulation of her cartoons this Saturday, shifting her focus to animated cartoons at WashingtonPost.com.
The Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist will now create three animations a week for WashingtonPost.com, a move that foreshadows the impending impact of online animation on traditional editorial cartoons.
"I decided to end the print syndication mainly for time reasons," said Telnaes. "When The Washington Post asked me to increase the animations, I realized I couldn't realistically do both since I do all the animation myself. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to take the next step in editorial cartooning."
