TIME.com hires Duffy for new director of multimedia position

Posted by Liam Berkowitz on June 26, 2008 at 8:36 AM
TIME.Com has hired Craig Duff, an Emmy award-winning video journalist, as director of multimedia. Duff will manage the site's video offerings and train journalists while continuing his own video work.

Duff, writing on his blog, described the job as "an amazing opportunity/challenge". He has worked previously at CNN, Turner Broadcasting, and the New York Times, and was most recently a journalism professor at Princeton University. In a memo announcing the hiring, TIME.com editor Josh Tyrangiel said Duff is "perfect for TIME.com as we continue our transition into different ways of telling stories."

With Duffy's hiring, TIME.com seems to be gearing itself toward the all-in-one reporting model: tech-savvy journalists shoot video, write stories, and create multimedia packages, which they post themselves online.
