US: Orlando Sentinel reduces expenses with digital edition
Posted by Carolyn Lo on March 19, 2008 at 11:15 AM
The Orlando Sentinel will release a new digital edition of the newspaper on March 31 in an effort to cut costs while expanding the digital product selection.
The paper will no longer be available in physical form at the Orlando Sentinel offices. But through their new business partner Pressmart, Sentinel employees are able to access the digital edition with the entire print content including pictures, on a Web browser, mobile phone, as a podcast, or an RSS feed.
The digital edition will be introduced into the Newspapers in Education (NIE) program and will eventually be offered as an option to subscribers.
Financial benefits include increased ABC-audited circulation, lowered printing and distribution costs, and reduced future archival costs.
