The Daily Mail has launched MailTXT, an mobile phone service that allows users to send unlimited free text messages to other users.

According to PaidContent, Marketing Week reports that MailTXT is intended to drive audience to the Mail’s mobile web portal.

The service works by connecting users’ phones to the internet momentarily, and requires users to download a free Java application to their phones.
