Daily traffic to YouTube and other video sharing sites has soared in the past year, nearly doubling, up to 48% of adults, according to study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
The national phone survey spanned across 2,054 adults, 48% of whom used a vide sharing site, up from last year’s 33%.
15% of the respondents used a video-sharing site in the day before they answered the survey.
- The number of high school graduates visiting video sites increased 160%, from 5% to 13%.
- The number of women using video sites increased 120%, from 5% to 11%.
- The number of people aged between 30 and 49 visiting video sites increased 100%, from 7% to 14%.
Among the factors that contributed to this rise: the increased penetration of broadband within households. 54% of adults now have high-speed Internet connections at home.
