UK: Daily Mirror scraps mobile site

The Daily Mirror has scrapped its mobile site, in preparation for the launch of a new one within six months. Apparently parent company Trinity Mirror decided it wasn’t worth keeping the old one until then.
“We brought down the old site because it was lacking any thought. It wasn’t promoted online or in the paper,” said Trinity Mirror Rick Gleave.
Few newspaper sites have until now really developed their mobile services, due to either lack of marketing or lack of a significant market - until now.
There are few details on the Mirror’s planned new mobile site, but it will “draw on our strengths in sports and entertainment, as well as the star writers and wealth of regional news we have,” said Gleave.
