Polymer Vision rolls out fold-away Readius e-Reader

Dutch company Polymer Vision, spun out of Philips (which still has a 25% stake), has launched its miniature e-reader device, Readius. Readius’ unique feature is a fold-away screen, which makes the device extremely portable.
The 5-inch display is the world’s first to be retractable. Users can read news, blogs, emails and more. The device also enables phone calls and a 3G wireless Internet connection at high speed.
Readius’ is expected to challenge Apple’s iPhone and Amazon’s e-reader Kindle, when it is made available mid-2008.
Like Kindle, Readius has an ‘electronic paper screen’, which displays black-and-white text and images that almost look like they have been printed on paper.
